Pierre Teilhard de Chardin (1881-1955), Γάλλος φιλόσοφος και Ιησουίτης ιερέας αν και Δαρβινιστής – εκπαιδεύτηκε ως παλαιοντολόγος και γεωλόγος και πήρε μέρος στην ανακάλυψη του Peking Man (Zhoukoudian, Κίνα). Συνέλαβε την ιδέα του Σημείου Ωμέγα (το μέγιστο επίπεδο της πολυπλοκότητας και συνειδητότητας προς την οποία πίστευε ότι το Σύμπαν εξελισσόταν) και ανέπτυξε την έννοια του Vladimir Vernadsky περί Νοόσφαιρας (ελληνική περιγραφή: εδώ)
Κατά τη διάρκεια της ζωής του, πολλά από τα γραπτά του Teilhard είχαν λογοκριθεί από την Καθολική Εκκλησία, λόγω των απόψεών του σχετικά με το Προπατορικό Αμάρτημα, αν και εισέπραξε και θετικά σχόλια μετά θάνατον.
Για τη δράση του στον 1ο ΠΠ ως τραυματιοφορέας του απονεμήθηκε το ανώτατο παράσημο της Γαλλίας (Λεγεώνας της Τιμής) μεταξύ άλλων.

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin (1881-1955), French philosopher and Jesuit priest; Darwinian in outlook, he was the author of several influential theological and philosophical books. Trained as a paleontologist and geologist, he took part in the discovery of Peking Man (Zhoukoudian, China).
He conceived the idea of the Omega Point (a maximum level of complexity and consciousness towards which he believed the universe was evolving) and developed Vladimir Vernadsky‘s concept of noosphere.
During his lifetime, many of Teilhard’s writings were censored by the Catholic Church because of his views on Original Sin.
For his service as a stretcher-bearer, during World War I, he was awarded the Médaille militaire and the Legion of Honor, the highest French order of merit.
